You can’t live in optimum health if you have dental health problems. With the growing popularity of such books as Cure Tooth Decay by Ramie Nagel and Nourishing Traditions
by Sally Fallon, health food advocates are becoming more aware of how to prevent tooth decay and have overall better dental health.
But what if you wanted to spend thousands of dollars on dental work? What would be the most effective ways to make sure your teeth were in the worst condition possible?
Here are five things to do to in order to not prevent tooth decay.
1. Eat a lot of refined flour and white sugar as a child.
Since your dental health as an adult depends a lot on your childhood diet, make sure your parents allow you to eat plenty of bleached flour and sugar. Not only do the chemicals used to process them wear on your teeth, but these products cause deficiencies of the minerals crucial to good dental health.
2. Have a Type A personality.
Are you naturally high strung and competitive? Then you are well on your way to having terrible teeth! This kind of personality stresses out over nothing on a regular basis. Stress causes the body to become acidic, causing it to withdraw minerals from bones and teeth to neutralize the acidity, leading to tooth decay.
3. Never rinse your mouth after eating.
Rinsing your mouth out every time you eat reduces the acid and bacteria in your mouth that can lead to tooth decay. Especially after consuming fruit or processed sweets, make sure that you neither brush your teeth or rinse your mouth out with water.
4. Brush your teeth with toothpaste.
Toothpaste – even the natural brands – coat your teeth with glycerin, preventing the enamel from remineralizing. Avoid brushing with tooth soap, baking soda or essential oils, which clean your teeth much more effectively without coating their enamel.

5. Go to a conventional dentist – or never go at all!
Conventional dentists have been brainwashed to believe that mercury fillings are not harmful, and sometimes necessary. They will never tell you that the mercury – besides being extremely toxic to your body – will probably some day expand and cause your teeth to start cracking.
And if they do, they are almost always clueless about how to safely remove and replace mercury fillings.
In addition, they are unlikely to do a thorough exam to determine whether you have gum disease or other oral problems not directly related to cavities.
Of course, your best chance of having serious dental problems is to never see a dentist at all. You definitely don’t want to hunt down the best holistic dentist in your area.
