Got PMS ? I am happy to say that natural PMS remedies abound these days. Medication may bring temporary relief, but it will also toxify your body, may cause side effects, and will never get to the root of the problems like many of the natural remedies for PMS.
From gas and bloating; to sore nipples; to restless legs; to my personal un-favorite, mood swings, PMS is trouble enough to deal with. The last thing you need is to additionally depress your immune system and weaken your adrenal glands with over-the-counter drugs that supposedly help with PMS.
Here is just a partial list of natural PMS remedies to womankind feel and behave better during “that time of the month.”
1. Essential Oils
One day, I put a drop of chamomile essential oil in four ounces of water and drank it down. Within five minutes my emotional rollercoaster leveled out, and stayed pretty stable the rest of the day. A month or two later, I tried rosemary. It not only eliminated the feeling of wanting to do violence to somebody, but I felt more mentally alert and happier. 2. Magnesium and/or calcium
A deficiency in either mineral may lead to PMS. As well, during the two weeks after ovulation a woman’s body uses a lot of its magnesium reserves.
After hearing that, I recently began taking Liqumins ConcenTrace Trace the two weeks before my period starts. ConcenTrace contains many trace minerals from the sea and is high in magnesium. I have noticed a definite drop in moodiness and a lack of restless legs since beginning that protocol.
I also recommend Masaji juice, by Be Young Essential Oils. I’m not sure how much magnesium in contains, but it is loaded with various superfoods that provide a wide range of nutrients. And it makes you feel good.
P.S.–Magnesium is also supposed to help with cramps, but I wouldn’t know since my severely debilitating cramps have disappeared since giving birth.
3. Evening Primrose Oil
Evening primose oil has been found to alleviate all kinds of PMS symptoms. I have one friend who swears by it, so it’s worth a shot.
4. Krill Oil
Krill oil is high in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. It not only relieves PMS, but protects the heart from disease, improves memory and concentration, boosts your immune system, and improves liver function. I haven’t tried it myself–there are only so many supplements a person can take every day
–but I’ve read that it is THE cure for PMS. If you use it and find it works, please let me know.
5. Herbal PMS remedies
Native Remedies produces a product called Fermalite, which has brought rave reviews from women who say that their monthly mood swings have all but disappeared. Sweet fennel, pasque flower, and lemon balm are the active herbal ingredients.
6. Diet changes
Then there’s my all-time favorite natural PMS remedy, getting processed foods out of your diet! If you suffer with major PMS and more than 15% of your diet (by serving) is processed food, taking the plunge into a 100% whole foods diet may provide you with instant, lasting PMS relief. Making sure you are consuming enough omega-3 fatty acids as well as a decent amount of saturated fat will take your montly well-being to yet another level.
Got PMS? Now there’s no excuse! Take action today, and find the natural remedies for PMS that work for you.
