Fear runs rampant these days about the superbug known as MRSA. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is usually contracted in hospitals via wounds or surgical incisions. Lately, however, it is on the rise among the community at large, making truly healthy living a challenge for many.
The fear has arisen from the fact that conventional antibiotics can’t take it out. “There’s no cure!” cry the medical community and mainstream media, whose lifeblood depends on keeping people living in fear.
Well, horse doo-doo. A growing number of studies have shown that several types of essential oils can kill the bacteria. Some will even kill the it by the patient simply inhaling them.
Why do essential oils work?
Essential oils – along with other natural anti-bacterial substances, such as pure aloe vera juice and vinegar – don’t have exactly the same constituents in every bottle. All of those products come from plants, and each batch comes from a different plant that had slightly different soil elements, slightly different water amounts, etc. The slight variations in plant-based medicines, in a sense, keep bacteria and viruses guessing. So they can’t mutate to a form that is resistant to plant-based remedies.
Chemical drugs, however, are exactly the same, every time. The innate intelligence and survival instinct of the microscopic killers causes them to develop different DNA that won’t be harmed by the drugs.

What essential oils work best?
First of all, they need to be undiluted, chemical-free and properly distilled oils. The vast majority of oils out there do not fit all three categories, and may not have the desired medicinal effect.
Second, they must have powerful anti-bacterial activities. Studies show that lemongrass oil completely inhibits MRSA growth, with thyme and oregano close behind. (Try them in combination, as they are even more powerful together.) Tea tree oil, ravensara, rosemary and lavendar – all anti-microbial – are also good choices, although not necessarily proven to be as effective as the first three.
I know a lady who got rid of her mother-in-law’s severe case of MRSA by taking a capsule filled with three drops each rosemary, thyme, and oregano oil – plus a carrier oil to fill the rest of the capsule – three times a day for several weeks.
What’s the best way to take the oils in order to destroy MRSA?
- Inhaled from the bottle, several times, several times a day. This is especially effective with ravensara. I don’t recommend doing it with thyme and oregano, however, as they are hot oils and can literally burn the mucus membranes if inhaled too much.
- Taken internally, either a couple drops in a glass of water or in a capsule filled with almond oil.
- Rubbed on the bottom of the feet. Be sure to dilute thyme and oregano with a few drops of vegetable oil first.
- Rubbed topically on any MRSA-produced sore.
Stop being afraid of bacteria and disease. Next to a proper lifestyle, essential oils are probably your most powerful weapon in the fight against them, and should be in everyone’s pantry. And instead of suppressing your immune system and toxifying your body like every single drug does, they boost your immune function and help to rid your body of toxins.
